Happy Monday!
I have a new book releasing soon, and I’m so excited to share it with you!
Presenting…To Buy a Bike!

THE BLURB
Ten-year-old Jake Reynolds has never wanted anything more than the shiny red bike in the shop window. However, times are tough, and Jake knows better than to ask his parents to buy it for him. Instead, he’s determined to work for it himself; mowing lawns, sweeping floors, and helping his teacher around the classroom. How hard could it be?
Then school starts, and Jake’s class gains a newcomer: a timid, shoeless girl who’s always late, and won’t speak to anyone. The other kids won’t leave her alone, but what can Jake do about it? As the month drags on (turns out, earning money is harder than it looks), a runaway kitty sparks an unlikely friendship, leaving Jake to question everything.
Maybe boys and girls can have things in common. Maybe appearances can be misleading. Maybe there are even more important things than shiny red bikes.
Through the eyes of a boy learning what it means to follow Jesus, this touching short story explores themes of friendship, generosity, and doing the right thing, even when it’s hard.
I had the honor of working with author and cover designer, Alissa J. Zavalianos for this cover, and I adore it. She took the very messy attempts I’d created, and managed to perfectly capture my heart behind them!
This is a middle-grade short story about a boy named Jake, and what he learns about friendship and generosity while trying to earn enough money for his very own shiny red bike. It’s meant to be read in just a sitting or two, and is especially appropriate for younger readers, similar to my short story, The Toymaker’s Doll.
I wrote this story back in 2020 for a write-a-thon fundraiser (if you’ve been following this blog for a while, you might remember me talking about it!), and it finally feels like the right time to release it publicly. I can’t wait to share it with you!
To Buy a Bike launches May 11th, 2026!
I’m currently looking for ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) readers, so if you’re interested in reading an early copy of the book and helping get reviews up around the launch date, please hit the button below to apply! I’d be so grateful for your help!
I’ll be back again soon as release week approaches!
